FAQ - Frequently Asked Question

Who is the VIP a good fit for?

Veterans who have already taken clinical or non-clinical steps to address the internal emotional turmoil of PTS, yet are still struggling to find inner peace (e.g., difficulty shutting off certain memories, feeling overwhelmed with day-to-day living, etc.), and who are ready to commit to the work involved in personal development. If this sounds like you, then VIP may be a good fit.

Is acceptance into the VIP guaranteed?

Unfortunately, no. Due to highly limited resources as well as high demand, we do not have enough space in the VIP to accept every veteran who applies. Please know that we, as fellow veterans, understand the difficulty of your experience and do not make our decisions lightly. If you are not accepted into the VIP, the Mark Divine Courage Foundation offers a robust virtual and in-person community of peer support that you welcome you to join here.

How long is the VIP?

The program itself is 12 months from the start of the first one-on-one coaching session.
After 12 months (24 one-on-one coaching sessions), VIP alumni are welcome and encouraged to continue their engagement in our peer support community.

What does VIP commitment involve?

The following are commitments that VIP applicants should be prepared to agree to if accepted into the program: - For 12 months, VIP participants meet in-person or virtually with their coach twice a month for 1-hour long one-on-one coaching sessions. - In between these sessions, VIP participants are expected to make an effort to follow through on the realistic micro-goals they set with their coach, who will continue to support and guide them. - With the help of their coach, VIP participants will also study the Unbeatable Mind (UM) Foundations course content. - VIP participants are expected to use a biometrics tracker to monitor changes – if veterans do not already use their own tracker, the Courage Foundation offers the use of a tracker for the duration of the program. - At intervals throughout the program, VIP participants will also provide updated assessments so they can work with their coaches to tailor next steps to each veteran’s needs. - VIP participants are highly encouraged to participate in weekly and/or monthly peer support group activities.
